Application Note :  Flame AAS Technique
  Determination of K in Fertilizer

  Experimental
The measurements are performed by using the Flame AAS technique with Single beam mode and Background correction is Self-reversal (Smith-Hieftje) & Deuterium.
Also the other technique is used to measure the samples by Emission Flame AAS technique without using Hollow Cathode Lamp. The samples are diluted with 4%HNO3.

Calibration Curve:
Prepare Standard solution of  Potassium (K) at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 mg/L  in 4% HNO3 and add Calcium (Ca) in all standard solution.

Summary
The Self-reversal Background Correction (S-H) can suppress the matrix better than Deuterium Background correction (D2) because the value of BG (Abs) in the Self-reversal Background Correction is more than that of Deuterium Background correction  The Self-reversal Background Correction is the good technique for determination the elements which the wavelength is more than 350 nm.

The emission mode can measure the elements of Alkali metal such as K, Li, Na without Hollow Cathode Lamp A Calcium standard solution use to avoid an increase of the Potassium Chloride in the sample.
